Burundi Chorale Sainte Famille, Mont Sion Gikungu in Bujumbura |
Singing and Dancing for
Peace and Reconciliation
About 120 young members belong to the “Chorale Sainte Familie
from Mont Sion Gikungu, Bujumbura, Burundi. Primary and
secondary school pupils, as well as university students and adults with
a variety of professions, practise “unity in
diversity”.
The choir has its own composers and artists at its disposal as well as
a broad repertory of songs, much appreciated too by other
choirs. The group “Umuryango” devotes
itself to traditional dances and songs with the theme
“Reconciliation”. They take part in national
concerts on reconciliation and peace, and have already won several
prizes.
In order for their peace songs to be heard by a wide
audience, a CD recording is planned as well as concerts in Gitega and
other places inland. We expect to fulfil this wish through
contributions from the S.E.R. Foundation 2006/2007.
